Your measurements

Units

Use decimal measurements. Dimensions: 0–100,000; wall and material sizes must be greater than zero. Counts: 1–30, up to 60 frames.

One centred support per frame. The centre height is a design choice; the example is not a universal rule.

Enter your measurements and calculate to see a plan.

Plan with outer dimensions

This planner arranges identical rectangular frames in equal rows and columns. Enter the outer frame width and height, not the photograph opening. Set a clear gap and the height of the whole group’s centre above the floor. The group is centred horizontally on the wall. Different frame sizes, rotation and free-form arrangements are outside this model.

The group footprint

Group width = columns × frame width + (columns − 1) × gap. Group height = rows × frame height + (rows − 1) × gap. The left margin is half the wall width remaining after the group is subtracted. The top position is wall height minus centre height minus half the group height.

Worked example

Six outer frames measuring 30 × 40 cm, arranged three across and two down with an 8 cm gap, occupy 106 × 88 cm. On a 300 × 240 cm wall, with the group centred 145 cm above the floor, the left margin is 97 cm and the top is 51 cm below the wall’s top. The first frame’s top is 189 cm above the floor. With a 5 cm centred hanger offset, its support point is 184 cm above the floor.

Frame positions and hanger positions

The optional hanger calculation assumes one support point horizontally centred behind every frame, at the same distance below its outer top. If your frames have different hardware or two hooks, use the frame positions and measure the actual hardware separately. The table labels top coordinates from the wall’s top and hanger heights from the floor to avoid mixing those references.

Check the room as well as the rectangle

A fit warning means the group extends beyond the wall boundary. A fit confirmation only refers to that boundary: the calculator does not know about furniture, openings, cables, pipes or suitable fixings. The 145 cm sample centre height is an editable example, not a prescribed height. The SVG download is a scaled planning drawing, not a drilling template.

Common questions

Can I use mixed frame sizes?

This tool is for equal-sized frames in a regular grid. Do not average different frame dimensions: the resulting positions would not describe your frames.

Does it find safe drilling points?

No. It calculates geometric positions only. It cannot detect services or determine wall or fixing strength.

Why does my frame size differ from its label?

The label may describe the image opening. Measure the actual outside edges for this planner.
